My name is Katrina
Whipple. That is my new name... I got married this summer to my wonderful husband Adam. I am 23 years old and I am a first
grade teacher at Brickey-McCloud Elementary School in Knoxville TN.
I spend a great deal of time at dance class. I teach ballet, tap, and jazz at East Tennessee Perfoming Arts Academy.
While at Carson Newman I met Adam. He is
a very special person whom I now call my husband :)We dated for nearly 4 years before getting married June 11 of this year.
He was a Church Music major at Carson Newman and he is trying to work on his music career while also working at Starbucks.
In 2001 I graduated from Graceville High School.
A very small school GHS was the kind of place that you feel like you know everyone (probably because you do). There are many
wonderful memories that I have from GHS and it holds a very special place in my heart.
While in high school I tried to
be a well rounded person. Who knows if I succeeded but I enjoyed what I did. Beginning in 7th grade I took dance classes
2 or 3 days a week at Dothan School of Dance. It was a wonderful opportunity to make some wonderful friends and broaden my
horizons. While at DSD I danced in many recitals as well as the Southeast Alabama Dance Company's production of Beauty
and the Beast.
Another thing I had the privledge of doing
in High School was being a part of the GHS marching band also know as the TIGER PRIDE. My years in the Tiger Pride had ups
and downs, but I could never replace the lessons I learned there as well as the friendships I made.
Finally one spring many of my friends were
planning their summers, and I realized that my plans consisted of staying home. In search of something to get me away for
a while my mom ran across a newspaper article for a camp that was in need of volunteer counselors. She brought the article
to me and said it might be a good experience so the summer of 1999 I made the decision to go to a camp that would change my
life FOREVER. I went to Muscular Dystrophy camp. Since... MDA camp has been the highlight of my summer and I wouldn't give
it up for the world.
